Real Housewives of New York’s Jessel Taank joined me for a very fun episode of Feedback. She addresses fan backlash, her beefs this season, whether or not she’s a real New Yorker, and even who she’d set me up with!

For fans of my recent Feedback interview with Marlon James, be sure to check him out at Pioneer Works this Sunday in Brooklyn. He’ll be in conversation with fellow Jamaican writer Colin Channer.

There are still a few slots left in my Taste is Character: Writing Pop Culture course. I’m also offering a one-day Writing Pop Culture workshop! Find out more info here.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has always been the meta franchise. It’s more like wrestling than any of the other series on Bravo. For its first four years, the series always had an antagonist for the women to square up against: Mary Cosby and her church, Jen Shah, Jennie Nguyen, and Monica Garcia. In classic wrestling fashion, Mary went from a heel to a face1, and now she’s not only a fan favorite but a friend to many of her cast members. She’s basically The Rock. If the smell from The Rock’s cooking was hospital.

But unfortunately, if someone can turn from heel to face, then they can also turn from face to heel. And right now, Salt Lake City has a heel problem. And it’s ruining the franchise.
