Forgive my confusion: many members of the RHOP fandom and even Robyn’s castmates Karen Huger and Wendy Osefo “jokingly” refer to her as Robert or Rob because… it’s funny to them, I guess? I’m far from the joke police, but I struggle to find the humor in the reference other than the fact that it masculinizes Robyn. I hate you so much, I’m gonna call you a dude. You need to roll with the fellas and stay out of women’s business. Etc.
I find the joke annoying and low-key transphobic, but insulting Robyn at least feels earned from her actual castmates that she has beef with before. As for gleeful viewers who love to misgender Robyn for fun, I’ll borrow a phrase from Salt Lake City’s Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks: it’s hypocrisy and bullshit.
